Tip Top Thursday

Today I went back to weight watchers after being on vacation last week. I really didn’t know what to expect since we celebrated my birthday, went on vacation and celebrated our anniversary within those two weeks. There was lots of eating out at really delicious places. I must be learning something because even though we ate out a lot I didn’t totally overindulge at all. And I managed to lose 1 pound!

Training for my triathlon also continued today. I actually got up early and ran before Matt went to work. I had exercised, showered and gotten dressed all before Jackson woke up. For the first time EVER! (Except when I leave at 6am for work on the weekends, but of course I don’t run first, haha!)

Alison you can stop reading, you won’t like the rest. Haha! :)

For dinner tonight I made chicken gyros with homemade flat bread and tzatziki sauce. The grilled chicken and tzatziki sauce were so good, but I don’t think I’ll go to the trouble of making the flatbread again. And I made frozen lemonade pie for dessert.  Even though I didn’t know when I made it (I must have had a feeling), it ended up being worth the indulgence because Matt was hired full time today at the job he has been working at on a contract basis. Yay Matt! I am so proud of you!!

It’s official…I am insane!!

I think I just did the craziest, stupidest thing of my entire life! I signed up for a triathlon!! And HOLY MOLY it’s in 7 1/2 weeks!! I’m not sure what I was thinking, but I’m excited!  It is the Acworth Women's Sprint Triathlon. It consists of a 400 yard swim, 13 mile bike course and 5K run. It is on Sunday, August 7th if you are local and want to cheer me on. I will need all the support I can get!! I hope I will just finish the race without throwing up, passing out or dying!!

I have been arguing with myself about this for a week and I can’t let it go. So, I am just going to go for it! For some reason, I have felt the need to challenge myself and I think this will do it! And hopefully it will help me get rid of those last 12 pounds and get in better shape.  I will feel so proud of myself when I cross that finish line!

Today I started my training. I took Jackson in the jogging stroller for a 3 mile run/walk at our favorite park. It actually felt really good to get out and run. And I am SO not a runner. Or a swimmer or biker for that matter.

No more wings!

Today I was finally able to get my hair trimmed. Grammy met us at the salon to watch Jackson while I got my hair cut. She conspired with my stylist to cut Jackson’s hair while I was putting my smock on. I agreed to let her cut his little wings off. Since this was an impromptu haircut I didn’t have my camera with me to document this momentous occasion. Jackson did really good though. I held him in my lap and kissed his face to keep him still while his wings were clipped. He didn’t cry or anything. Such a big boy! I couldn’t part with his little curls in the back, so those stayed. I have his wings in an envelope to keep in his baby book.

I tried to get pictures of his new do, but Jackson was in full force today and had no time for portraits. These were the best I got.

“Look Ma, no wings!”

You can kinda see his cut here. And of course, Jackson’s favorite book of the day “Are You My Mother?” I can’t even tell you how many times we read that today!

Here’s sorta the back. Still a little wing, but oh well.  Reading “Are You My Mother?” again, along with the ever present trucks and the pepsi box he likes to carry around, oh and the milk drops on the floor that he thinks are hilarious to make.

Today was also our 3rd wedding anniversary. Uncle Chris was nice enough to come over and stay with Jackson so Matt and I could go out to eat. Matt treated me to dinner at Stoney River. Yum!

Happy Anniversary darlin!! I love you so much!

Jr. Mechanic

Sunday I was not needed at work, so I got to stay home with my boys. Matt decided to change the brake pads on my car since I was there the watch the cub.

Please disregard my messy garage and messy house and crappy pictures!! And I don’t know why my kitchen walls look like mustard.

So, while Daddy was doing this outside:

The cub insisted on watching, but I made him stay in the kitchen so he wouldn’t get in the way.

Look at his cute little legs swinging!

But, of course he wasn’t content with that for long.

So, we headed outside to get a closer look

Jackson consulted his Dr. Seuss book to make sure Daddy was doing it right

And he gave Daddy some encouragement

You can’t really tell in the picture, but Jackson is patting Daddy on the back!

Then we headed back inside the house.

Jackson was not pleased!

How could I resist that face?!!

More Tybee & Savannah

Here are more of our Tybee Beach and Savannah pictures. Even though our hotel was in the historic riverfront part of Savannah we ended up spending more time at the beach since Jackson loved it so much. We tried to show him the big ships in Savannah along the river front, but none came by while we were there.  A couple smaller tug boats came but he wasn’t really thrilled.  And he was tired, so we packed up, let him nap in the car and went back to his favorite place, the beach.  He loved it when I would carry him in the water and big waves would crash into us. He would just laugh and laugh. They didn’t scare him at all. Every chance he got he would run back to the water!  We ate at some great restaurants in both Savannah and Tybee.  Our short, little trip was just what we needed! It was great to have fun and spend lots of time together.

Tybee Beach

I haven’t had much time to go through all the pictures from our trip, but here are a few of my favorites so far. I’ll probably have to break up the pictures into a few posts. Sorry if you get tired of looking at our pictures, but we can’t get enough of our cute little cub! The blue romper in the pictures below is the outfit I made  Jackson before we left.
