Matt has been talking about going up to Helen for Oktoberfest for a while. We finally just decided to go up one night. I have many memories of going to Helen every year with my parents and grandparents. Matt has been to Helen, but not for Oktoberfest.
This ended up being a great time to take Jackson. NO ONE was there. My memories of Oktoberfest are of mullet wearing rednecks drinking huge beers and smoking. We ate at my favorite restaurant in Helen which is right on the river.
This is all the cub wanted to do- look over the railing at the river. I asked him what he saw and he said “water” and “ish” (fish). Smart boy!
I think he would have jumped right over the rail if I wasn’t holding onto him!
Jackson did manage to sit down long enough to eat a hotdog and chips. Mamma and Daddy enjoyed some brats. And then there was this:

I did however enjoy this! Umm funnel cake!
We drove by the place where the actual Oktoberfest was and it was pretty much dead, not worth $14 for us to get in. We thought there would be a polka band and dancing and stuff. Not on a week night I guess. We had fun anyways. Much more appropriate for taking Jackson. It was like we had the place to ourselves.
