Tip Top Thursday

I was lazy and didn’t blog last weeks TTT. But, I did lose 0.6 pounds.  This week I lost 1.4 pounds! Yay! That brings my total weight loss to 21 pounds! Only 5 more to go.

While I am really happy about my weight loss, my main goal in all this has been to become healthier. I made a huge success in that this week. I have been trying for a long time to give up soda. But, just couldn’t do it.  My last diet soda was on Sunday. I drank one Saturday and one Sunday and none this week. That is huge for me, I was drinking at least 2-3 a day before.  I really have been trying to give up all forms of sugar. This was my last hurdle in that.

I hope everyone has had a great week!

Jackson vs the baby gate

Today started with a fun activity for Jackson, but ended in a fight with the baby gate.

First, the fun part. I have been trying to think of some sensory activities for Jackson to do. He really does not like how some things feel and doesn’t like things on his hands. I found this activity via Pinterest.  It was really easy to make and went over pretty well.

First you make this cornstarch, sugar, water mixture. Then, let it cool, color it and put it in freezer bags. I added the color directly to the bags so Jackson could mix the colors in.

Not the prettiest activity, but it worked. I think Jackson had fun squishing the bags. I would definitely recommend taping the bags, I wasn’t going to but I am really glad I did. The zip lock did not stay closed very well.

Later after Daddy came home I went upstairs to get ready to go get something for dinner. Jackson got mad I went upstairs and cried at the bottom of the stairs. We have a baby gate there because he likes to go up and down the stairs. He was shaking the gate and must have tried to climb it because I heard a big crash and then him screaming. I looked down the stairs and saw him laying on the ground with the gate on top of him. He ended up being fine, but has a pretty good goose egg on his head. I had to really separate the nurse part of me and the mommy part of me to know that he was ok (no loss of consciousness, no vomiting, pupils were reactive, he was walking fine, talking normally, bump was firm).  I did call my friend who is also a nurse (and who’s daughter recently bonked her head too) just to make sure. Why do these things always happen when the doctors office isn’t open?(I would have brought him to the ER if I really was worried.)

It’s hard to see the depth of the bump in these pictures, but its pretty big and it’s scraped and bruised. Poor cubby!

I am so glad that Jackson is ok. I was surprised how quickly he stopped crying and was himself again.  Jackson is always hitting his head, but this was definitely the worst.  It’s a good thing he has a hard head, he got double doses from Momma and Daddy!
