Yummy in my tummy!

Today Jackson played in his new exersaucer. He is really getting good at sitting up in it. He is less wobbly every day. He is also getting really good at grabbing things. And the exersaucer has ALOT of things to grab. I love watching him reach for things and try so hard to get it. I think his favorite part is the music. He can push the buttons to play sounds, but I don't think he realized he is doing it. One of the songs it plays is "Pop goes the weasel". I already sing that to Jackson and he loves it. So today when I sang it to the music he really liked it. He was really close to laughing. We are trying so hard to make him laugh again and he just does NOT think we are funny.

He really does have fun in the exersaucer. Despite the serious look on his face. My camera is too slow to get the good pictures. (No, my new camera still has not come! I hate Wolf camera. I will never order from them again.) Jackson is also learning to turn around in the exersaucer. He made it almost all the way around to play with all of the toys.

Tonight Jackson had another first. His first solid food! Yay Jackson! I wasn't sure how he would do with the spoon, especially since the bottle was such a battle. But he did great! I was so proud of him.

This was his first ever bite of food! He did so good. He opened his mouth for the spoon. And he didn't push the food out of his mouth with his tongue. Both good signs that he is ready for solids. He even smiled after a few of the bites! If I was too slow in giving him another bite he would blow raspberries at me. I ended up with rice cereal on my face a couple times, but that's ok.

(I know there was the same picture twice in there, but I can't figure out how to delete it. I'm still figuring out this whole blog thing.)

Jackson decided he was a big boy and could feed himself. He grabbed the spoon from me a couple times. Can we say Mr. Independant! I think part of the reason he did so good (besides that he is a genius baby!) is that right before I went back to work I taught him to drink from a cup. I wanted a backup since he wasn't taking to bottle very well. He was a pro at drinking from a little cup (the nipple cover to one of his bottles!). Welcome to the world of food Jackson! There are lots of tasty things for you to try! Even better than rice cereal and breastmilk!

The greatest sound ever

Last night Jackson laughed for reals! It was the best thing I have ever heard! He has been "smiling excitedly" for a while, but no real laughing. The best part was Matthew and I both got to hear it together. We were all in Jackson's room before bedtime. Jackson was playing on his floor gym. It has a mini beach ball with another ball inside of it that he can kick. Well, Matt and I were sitting on the floor on either side of him just talking and catching up. I wasn't really paying close attention to Jackson and I was kinda absent-mindedly playing with the beach ball. Then Jackson started laughing! He was cracking up over the ball moving. It was so freakin cute! I, of course, started crying. Silly momma. I was just so proud of him. He definatley knows how to melt my heart into a big puddle. Then Matt tried to get him to laugh more, but Jackson was over it by then. I seriously can't wait to get my camera. I am going to have to wear it around my neck at all times to make sure I capture all of Jackson's adventures! Just kidding-kinda! But, I really do wish I had a picture of it.

Everyday Jackson is doing more and more. He is really reaching for things now. He can roll from his stomach to his back. He hates doing tummy time and he has figured out that if he rolls onto his back he doesn't have to do tummy time. Everytime I put him back on his stomach, he rolls back over. Silly boy! My mom said today while she was watching him, he was trying to roll from his back to his stomach. He can make it onto his side so far. It won't be long and he will be getting into everything! He is growing up way too fast. I swear he was bigger when I came home from work tonight.

Here is a cute pic, just because!

The Big 3-0!

Today I turned 30 years old. I'm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand age is just a number. But... I'm 30. Three decades! I do know one thing: I could not be happier with where I am in my life. I married the man of my dreams, my soulmate, my best friend. I have a beautiful, amazing son. If you had asked me 5 years ago where I would be I wouldn't of even dared to dream that I would have all this. Thankyou Lord for everything you have given me! I should have trusted you more. You had a plan afterall and you still do. This is just a new chapter in my life. To quote Tim McGraw: "I'll do it better in my next 30 years".

My sweet Mom took me (and Jackson) out to lunch. Matt was able to meet us too. In my old age I fell asleep and was almost an hour late meeting them. Oops! In my defense though I have been sick and I didn't sleep last night. And someone did not want to take a nap this morning (I wonder who?) It was fun, but a bit embarassing. Let's just say I sprung a leak ;) Therefore, there are no pictures.

My wonderful husband took me out to dinner, just the two of us. We went to one of my favorite places, but one we never go to. La Fonda. Yummy! I had the best steak tacos. I also had a margarita that packed a big punch. I couldn't see straight after drinking only about 1/4 of it! I guess I am just a light weight now.

I am so excited about my birthday present! I cannot wait for it to come! Matt got me a brand new DSLR camera! I have no idea how to work it, but I am super excited to learn. Maybe I will take on online class this summer. I want to get really good at photography. Especially since I have an adorable man cub to take pictures of. You'll have to be the judge when I start posting them. Hurry up and come camera! I want to play!

To Jackson:

Jackson,

I hope that one day you will look back at this blog and know how loved you are. I started this so that we would always remember this time in our life. We can look back one day when you are all grown and see how adorable you were. I love you so much!

Mommy
