Aquarium

Today Jackson and I met Grammy in Jasper, then we drove to Chattanooga to see Mimi and Uncle Josh. We ate lunch at a yummy place called Aretha Frankenstein’s. They have HUGE pancakes! They are soo good. I should have taken a picture. Oops, I just now thought of that.

Then we went to the Tennessee Aquarium. Mimi has a membership and has been wanting to take Jackson. He didn’t sleep the whole trip in the car and passed out by time we got to the aquarium. I thought he was going to miss the whole thing.

Here he is asleep in front of the macaws. They were huge!

It’s a good thing Jackson was asleep, because the macaws were kissing!

There were lots of mana rays. These were pretty. They had yellow spots on them.

A big open tank had lots of mana rays that you could reach in and touch. I did NOT touch them!

Jackson finally woke up when we went to see the penguins.

Sorry Uncle Joshy, I can’t figure out why its trying to cut you out!

We had lots of fun. This time we only went to the ocean side of the aquarium. Next time we will have to go to the river side too.

Oh!! I just thought of something funny! While we were standing in front of the big tank with lots of fish and sharks, this one shark swam by and pooped right in front of us! Then these fish swam up and started eating the poop! It was so gross!

Ok. That was our trip. Hope you had a good day too!

The itsy bitsy spider…

Well, maybe not so itsy bitsy, but definitely a spider. This is what I found in the kitchen a few days ago. IN MY KITCHEN, IN THE HOUSE. ON THE FLOOR, WHERE I COULD HAVE STEPPED ON IT!

DSC_0002

It was HUGE!! I should have taken a picture where you could see the scale of it. It was at least 2 inches in diameter. I don’t think I have ever seen a spider that big in person, except maybe at the zoo or something.  Matthew captured it under a wine glass and took it outside. He said it was a wolf spider. I didn’t really care what kind it was or that it lived. I would have smashed the h*** out of it! Matthew the pacifist (HEHEHEHE :) ) saved its dang life so it could somehow crawl back in the house.  Lord have mercy, the wrath I would have had if it had been in Jackson’s room. This is a warning to all spiders- STAY AWAY FROM MY BABY!!! I WILL KILL YOU!!!

Weee!

Today I took Jackson to the playground for the first time! It has been so hot all summer that I haven’t taken him before now. I decided we needed to get out of the house and do something today, so off we went. The First Baptist Church of Woodstock has an awesome playground that is open to the public and it’s really close, so that’s where we went.

At first Jackson didn’t know what to think.  He looked all serious until he got used to it.

Then he was all smiles! He had such a good time!

He liked to swing really high! He’s fearless! He looked so small in the swing. I know some of the pictures look kinda scary, but he really wasn’t about to fall out like it looks.

The swings looked so gross! I cleaned his hands good afterward and changed his clothes when we got home.  He was so worn out from playing that he fell asleep as soon as we got in the car and left. Now I know another way to wear him out so he’ll take good naps! I think we’ll be going back to the playground alot this fall! He will have so much fun there when he is older too. They have lots of fun things to do and the ground is ground up tires so its soft to walk on.  I’m so glad I finally got some pictures of Jackson smiling! He smiles all the time and is so happy, but he always stops as soon as I pull my camera out. Sneaky boy!

Rubber Ducky: You make bath time so much fun!

Jackson is such a big boy sitting up and all, he didn’t like his old bath sling anymore. He wanted to sit up and splash, not lay down and splash. And believe me, he is a great splasher! He loves to get mommy and daddy soaked!

Today, while we were at Target, I decided to get him a new tub.  A friend had told me her daughter loved the ducky tub when she could sit up. So, I decided to give it a try.

Jackson loved it! He was really excited when I was blowing it up.  The biggest surprise for him was that when he splashed HE got all wet too!  He wasn’t used to getting water in his own face, just mommy’s. But, he quickly got over it and splashed away!

I don’t know why my and looks purple.

Daddy got home just in time to take some pictures! Don’t worry I thoroughly checked each pic just to make sure you couldn’t see TOO much of Jackson :) I’m sure these will embarrass him one day anyway. I couldn’t help it, he just looked too cute!

Tomorrow we go to the doctor to recheck Jackson’s weight. The doctor wanted to see him again in a month from his 6 month checkup. Keep your fingers crossed that he has gained weight! (I can’t believe he will be SEVEN months old tomorrow!

Monday Weigh In

Another 1.4lbs down! Whoo Hoo!

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Whoo Hoo!

Every Monday morning I weigh myself. The last few weeks have been decent. This week though I only lost 0.4lbs. I was glad it was a loss, but bummed it wasn’t more. Tonight though I realized I am exactly halfway to my goal. YEA!! And really only 14lbs more to my pre-pregnancy weight. Not half bad. I keep telling myself nine months on, nine months off. If only I didn’t have so much pre-pregnancy weight to lose. I know that is going to be the hardest. Anyway, I am thrilled to be halfway there! GO ME!

Umm, Excuse Me….

I had planned to show you how well Jackson can sit up today. Well, Jackson had to really show off.

DSC_0152

I put him in his seat to eat dinner like I always do. Except tonight he did not want to lay back to eat. He sat up all by himself and stayed that way. I looked down for a second to get his food and this is how I saw him next. Excuse me, where did my baby go? A big boy has replaced my baby Jackson!

Looks like it’s time to get a high chair! Say goodbye to the papasan seat! Yea! I will finally get my dining room table back. That seat takes up half the table. But, it was a lifesaver for a while. It was the only place I could put Jackson down and him not scream for the first few months. Now it’s time to graduate to a big boy high chair. I have not bought a high chair yet because I could not decide which one I wanted. I really want a Jenny Lind style high chair like I had when I was a baby. But, apparently they are very hard to find now. The only one I have been able to find is oak or natural wood. I want a maple one like I had. If only my mom had kept mine. I had a little rocking chair too. I can remember sitting in it reading books. Too bad I can’t pass them on to my babies. Oh, well. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and pick one.

Jackson has really been showing off his sitting skills today. He played in the living room on a blanket. But, he fell forward and hit his face on the floor and cried. Poor baby! I haven’t let him play on the floor downstairs before today. Because (a) I feel like it’s too dirty with Sadie running around and (b) it’s too hard. The whole downstairs is hardwood on a concrete slab. I know I need to let him play on the floor, especially when he starts crawling. But, I don’t want him to get hurt with it being such a hard surface. Am I worrying too much? Probably! I know he will get bumps and bruises. I just don’t want him to fall and hit his head on the floor. He doesn’t mind when he falls on the carpet in his room.

Then later we went and played in his room.

Just look at those blue eyes! I can hardly stand it!

Jackson even sat up in the tub during his bath tonight instead of laying in his little seat. Laying down is for babies! He’s a big man cub!
